Interim Change Communication Manager for a Media Group

Schibsted, one of the largest media groups in Scandinavia, embarked on an ambitious corporate transformation across the Nordic region. The transformation projects aimed to strengthen ties across borders and create unified processes and platforms for a truly Nordic organization.

Situation

To ensure effective communication throughout this transformation, Schibsted required an Interim Change Communication Manager. This role involved identifying communication processes, managing stakeholder engagement, establishing efficient communication channels, and executing key communication initiatives related to the transformation projects.

While media industry experience was not mandatory, the ideal candidate needed extensive cross-border experience within the Nordics, as well as a strong understanding of communication in a cross-cultural Nordic organization.

Action

Schibsted’s Chief Marketing Officer, Lotte Præstgaard, turned to Nextt Management to identify the right interim candidate. Given her long-standing relationship with Nextt Management’s Christian Hvashøj Schaarup, she was confident in their ability to deliver.

Within 4–5 days, Nextt Management presented three highly qualified candidates. Each had seniority, professionalism, and significant experience in Nordic organizations and transformation projects. The selection process ultimately focused on chemistry and organizational fit, as all candidates were highly capable of handling the role.

One of the candidates was selected and began the interim assignment on a six-month contract, later extended for an additional six months due to their success in the role.

Results

The interim manager successfully led communication efforts throughout Schibsted’s transformation, ensuring alignment across Nordic operations. By implementing structured communication strategies and managing key stakeholders effectively, the organization achieved smoother transitions and stronger engagement during the transformation process.
